For about 40 days each summer Rocky Mountain National Park’s alpine tundra comes to life revealing many different varieties of wildflowers, grasses and moss. The hills and valleys and meadows are filled with columbine, sunflowers, golden banner, and wild iris among other wildflowers. Travel Photo Guides Rocky Mountain National Park iPhone app also shows you the best places to take photos of the majestic mountains and peaks and other beautiful lakes found in the Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park features rugged scenery, including spectacular views of the mountains and peaks of the Continental Divide, forests, lakes and alpine tundra. The Park has a wide variety of wildlife including elk, bighorn sheep, moose, bears, hawks and other birds. Colorful wildflowers such as columbine, sunflowers, iris and pasque flowers grow in the spring and summer. There is easy access to back-country trails for hiking, back packing, rock climbing and camping where you can find all these beautiful views to enjoy and photograph. The best time to take photos and pictures of the rugged scenery and wildlife is often at sunrise or sunset.

Camera Equipment Used in Photos

These photos were taken with a Canon EOS 5D and a EF17-40mm F/4L USM or a Digital rebel XT 18-55mm kit lens.  Nikon shooters will prefer a D3 or a D90.  Other full frame  or APS-C cameras such as the Nikon d300 or Canon 7D will work as well.  Many landscape photographers  consider   a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens an essential piece of camera equipement.  This lens is available for most digital cameras including DSLRs  from Leica, Pentax , Sony, Sigma and Olympus.
