Mills Lake is a favorite for many visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park. Located on the backside of Longs Peak below Pagoda Mountain and Chiefs Head Peak, Mills Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park. Besides Mills Lake, Travel Photo Guides Rocky Mountain National Park iPhone app also shows you where to find and take photos of other beautiful lakes in the Park such as Poudre Lake and Dream Lake.
Rocky Mountain National Park features rugged scenery, including spectacular views of the mountains and peaks of the Continental Divide, forests, lakes and alpine tundra. The Park has a wide variety of wildlife including elk, bighorn sheep, moose, bears, hawks and other birds. Colorful wildflowers such as columbine, sunflowers, iris and pasque flowers grow in the spring and summer. There is easy access to back-country trails for hiking, back packing, rock climbing and camping where you can find all these beautiful views to enjoy and photograph. The best time to take photos and pictures of the rugged scenery and wildlife is often at sunrise or sunset.
Camera Equipment Used in Photos
These photos were taken with a Canon EOS 5D and a EF17-40mm F/4L USM or a Digital rebel XT 18-55mm kit lens. Nikon shooters will prefer a D3 or a D90. Other full frame or APS-C cameras such as the Nikon d300 or Canon 7D will work as well. Many landscape photographers consider a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens an essential piece of camera equipement. This lens is available for most digital cameras including DSLRs from Leica, Pentax , Sony, Sigma and Olympus.
