Bighorn sheep spend most of their time high above tree line in the summer at Rocky Mountain National Park. It is not uncommon to find them along Trail Ridge Road but it takes a keen eye to notice them because they blend in so well. Besides bighorn sheep, Travel Photo Guides Rocky Mountain National Park iPhone app also shows you where to find and take photos of other wildlife such as elk.
Rocky Mountain National Park features rugged scenery, including spectacular views of the mountains and peaks of the Continental Divide, forests, lakes and alpine tundra. The Park has a wide variety of wildlife including elk, bighorn sheep, moose, bears, hawks and other birds. Colorful wildflowers such as columbine, sunflowers, iris and pasque flowers grow in the spring and summer. There is easy access to back-country trails for hiking, back packing, rock climbing and camping where you can find all these beautiful views to enjoy and photograph. The best time to take photos and pictures of the rugged scenery and wildlife is often at sunrise or sunset.
Camera Equipment Used in Photos
These photos were taken with a Canon EOS 5D and a EF17-40mm F/4L USM or a Digital rebel XT 18-55mm kit lens. Nikon shooters will prefer a D3 or a D90. Other full frame or APS-C cameras such as the Nikon d300 or Canon 7D will work as well. Many landscape photographers consider a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens an essential piece of camera equipement. This lens is available for most digital cameras including DSLRs from Leica, Pentax , Sony, Sigma and Olympus.
